Methods In January 2013, on-site interviews and questionnaires were used to investigate the eye injuries of 538 soldiers in the three Arctic, the Northeast Pole and the eastern part of Shenyang Cold Region in winter. Results Of the 538 cases, 263 (48.9%) had some eye damage to varying degrees, which was characterized by dry eye, blurred vision, pain, tears and photophobia. Some of the soldiers could be combined with various discomforts without snow blindness Corneal injury and retinal injury). In the age distribution of eye injuries, 40.5% of soldiers were soldiers in one year, 45.9% of soldiers in two years and 58.9% of soldiers in three years and above. Conclusion The absence of snow blindness in the cold areas indicates that prevention is better, but the incidence of other eye injury symptoms is higher. Therefore, officers and soldiers should be further strengthened in education so as to raise their awareness of self-protection.
