Driven by palaces, government officials and aristocratic family courtesans, the Jin slave slaves are engaged in the under-level and heavy work in agriculture, livestock husbandry, handicrafts and services in the Jin society, and these groups occupy a very important place in the social life and production in all fields of the Jin Dynasty Position. The gold slaves originated mainly from captives, poor and indebted persons, criminals and their families. Slaves are often bought, sold, transferred, and tattooed, and are freely disposed of as dowry and funerary objects. The number of slaves is also an important measure of the degree of wealth, so slaves are often rewarded as emblems by the emperor to wealthy men. In the middle and later Jin dynasties, the state took some cares about the slaves in the marriage law, the criminal law formulation and the imperial examinations, but still could not change its low social status.
