听说哈里森·索尔兹伯里是第六次来访华,我怀着仰慕之情,经陕西省对外友协副秘书长安危引见,在他下榻的人民大厦客房走访了他。噢!他就是八十高龄的索尔兹伯里,满头银丝,精神矍铄,一见面,就笑嗬嗬地招呼我们落座,不等提问,便单刀直入地谈起此行的目的:“我这次来华,是专程到延安采访的,为写一本‘新长征’的书搜集资料。这部六百多页的书,去年八月开始动笔,计划两年内完成,重点反映邓小平领导中国人民进行新长征的丰功伟绩.”这位在第二次世界大战中,赴苏联跟踪战争的著名记者,和埃德加·斯诺一样,早就在新闻界负有盛名,后来担任美国“纽约时报”副主编,是研究苏联问题的专家。如今他仍是壮心不已。我拜读过他的杰作《长征——前所未闻的故事》 I heard that Harrison Salisbury is visiting China for the sixth time.
