根据病毒粒子形态、血清反应、内含体形态、媒介昆虫种类、物理性质、寄主范围和症状特点,广州郊区辣椒花叶病的病原病毒可以鉴定为黄瓜花叶病毒的辣椒轻花叶型株系(CMV—PMMS),辣椒脉斑驳病毒(马铃薯Y病毒组的一个成员)的辣椒绿脉带型株系(PVMV—PGVBS)和烟草花叶病毒的辣椒黄色花叶型株系(TMV—PYMS)和辣椒枯斑型株系(TMV—PLNS)。 PMMS的病毒粒子形态为球状,直径约27毫微米;免疫琼脂双向扩散试验结果证明它与普通CMV存在亲缘关系;在百日菊上对CMV的Price NO.6株系有保护作用;可由棉蚜进行非持久性传递,致死温度为55℃,体外保毒期7天,稀释终点为10~(-5);在辣椒、黄瓜、心叶烟和普通烟等植物上引起系统性花叶,在苋色藜、豇豆等植物上引起局部枯斑,不侵染十字花科蔬菜。 PGVBS的病毒粒子形态为弯曲线状,大小约720×14毫微米;在感病辣椒细胞质中可见典型的风轮状内含体;可由棉蚜传递;致死温度为60℃,体外保毒期1天;人工接种7个科的24种植物中仅在辣椒一种植物上引起外部症状。 PYMS和PLNS的病毒粒子形态均为直杆状;免疫琼脂双向扩散试验结果表明两者与普通TMV存在亲缘关系;但PYMS比PLNS与TMV的亲缘关系更密切。在普通烟上,普通TMV对PYMS有完全的保护作用,对PLNS有不完全的保护作用;两者都不由蚜虫传递;PY
