Objective: To investigate the relationship between vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) levels and serum levels of pregnant women and pregnant women with normal pregnancy and preeclampsia. Methods: The levels of VEGF in peripheral blood (venous blood) of 69 preeclampsia patients (37 mild cases and 32 severe cases) were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and compared with 58 normal pregnant women. Results: Serum levels of VEGF in pregnant women with preeclampsia were significantly lower than those in normal controls (p <0.05), and VEGF levels in pregnant women with severe preeclampsia were significantly lower than those in controls (p <0.001). The results of pregnancy were compared between pregnant women with normal pregnant women and normal pregnant women. There were differences between the two groups in uterine height, abdominal circumference, biparietal diameter, neonatal weight, 1 minute Apgar score, amniotic fluid Ⅱ-Ⅲ contamination and placental weight. Conclusion: The changes of VEGF in patients with preeclampsia can cause the activation and injury of endothelial cells, leading to the clinical symptoms such as hypertension and proteinuria, and have an impact on the outcome of perinatal children.
