流苏是北方嫁接桂花常用的砧木。和其他砧木相比,流苏嫁接的桂花有以下特点:生长较慢.适宜盆栽;寿命长;耐旱抗寒;易成花且开花繁多;不萌发或很少萌发根蘖;根型美观,是很好的盆景材料。再加上容易用种子繁殖,所以理所当然地成了嫁接桂花的优良砧木。过去多用靠接法嫁接,繁殖系数低,嫁接麻烦,而且浪费接穗。近几年本人春季用硬枝接、夏初用嫩枝接,都取得了很好的效果,嫁接成活率都在95%以上。
