July 25, 1933, the French government communique proclaimed occupation of the South China Sea island (now Nansha Islands). This move from France was a violation of China’s territorial sovereignty. Japan actually defended the Fatih and claimed that it possessed sovereignty over the nine islands. The Chinese newspapers and magazines represented by “Shen Bao Bao” and “Ta Kung Pao” carried out the campaign against France and Japan and carried out the struggle to defend the sovereignty over the South China Sea on a large scale with reports and commentary. This struggle is manifested in two major aspects: on the one hand, and on the other, the protest law covers the nine islands of the South China Sea and opposes the Japanese law; on the other hand, it urges the authorities to act effectively and criticize the authorities for their inadequate and improper actions. Although such a struggle in the Chinese newspapers could not effectively defend the sovereignty of the nine islands in the South China Sea, it at least shows the determination of the people to defend the sovereignty and the fact that the nine seas of the South China Sea belong to China.
