The issue of compensation for pure circulation costs is a difficult issue in the theoretical study of political economy. There is no controversy among the theoretical workers in Marxist political economy about the source of compensation for purely circulating costs; the debate arises as to how the surplus product compensates for the purely circulating costs consumed.
