The Sanchuan River basin, which is located in the hinterland of the Luliang Mountains, has become one of the hardest hit areas of soil erosion in the middle reaches of the Yellow River under the long-term effects of natural and man-made factors. In the 1950s, the cooperative movement led by the Communist Party of China strengthened its collective forces and made the large-scale water and soil conservation work possible from a reality. Taking this as an opportunity, Sanchuan River Basin launched a vigorous soil and water conservation management. From the very beginning, it has made groping for strides and great progress in the era of Lianshan County. The work of water and soil conservation has achieved positive and remarkable results by means of collective cooperation. It also highlights the significance of the progress that cooperation has in that particular era.
