While many works of the African American writer Alice Walker make readers aware of the hypocrisy of Christianity, they try their best to justify the diversity of faith based on the original religious orthodoxy based on animism. In her view, these simple religious beliefs are positive and healthy, and their ideas of animism are far superior to the narrow-minded Christianity of both respecting women and respecting nature. In her novels, Walker not only disrupted the image of God in the prejudiced mainstream ideology but also saw respect for human nature in the thought of animism. Not only that, animism in her works can sometimes become the reality of the people in the bottom of society fighting the inequality of arms.
