1941年某天中午,陶行知正在重庆育才学校的办公室里办公,中央银行一位中层负责人打来电话,说行政院一个高官的亲戚想到银行工作,经了解这个小伙子是一个纨绔子弟,央行高层不想要他,找借口说小伙子拿不出正规学历,但小伙子却说自己是1929年在晓庄学校毕业的,下午要找他开证明。希望陶行知帮忙,不要给那个小伙子开证明。陶行知明白这位负责人的意思,他没有丝毫犹豫,直接在电话里说:“你们把函件发过来,我查一查。”
