1978年春王克文任山西省委书记,有位老同学来省城太原看他,提出想把在沁县工作的侄儿调回太原,好照顾他。克文一听,便瞪了老同学一眼,并有意把话题引开。老同学临走,他和气地说:“你不要生气,你是研究文史的,咱沁县的吴(王典)在清朝时期任过湖广巡抚总督、大学士,他的4个儿子没一个在他身边,我不能为沁县人丢脸啊！”几句话说得老同学满意而归。
