中国戏曲,源远流长。元代是中国戏曲的成熟期,元人杂剧,数以百计。现存剧本,仅三国戏就有21种(不算残折残曲),其中关公戏最多。除了《刘关张桃国三结义》《虎牢关三战吕布》《关张双赴西蜀梦》三剧之外,以关公为丑角的剧目,还有6种。这些关公戏,有的故事取材于《元刊全金相平话三国志》,有的源于民间传说,还有的是剧作家的原创剧目。现简述如下:《关大王独赴单刀会》是元代杂剧“四大家”之首关汉卿的名剧。
