原平市以农业为主导产业,其中玉米是第一大粮食作物。全市耕地总面积约761km2,农作物播种面积约567 km2,其中玉米播种面积484 km2,占总种植面积的80%.按照中央、山西省和忻州市农村工作会议要求,紧紧围绕稳定粮食生产、增加农民收入的总目标,2013年原平市以省玉米增粮计划为目标、以高产创建活动为契机,围绕促进现代农业发展,确保粮食安全,促进农民增收,加快玉米生产步伐。因此,保证玉米杂交种的质量就成为很重要的一环,种子贮藏是实现来年丰收必须做好的一件重要工作。
