周南,原名庆琏、庆琮,山东曲阜人,著名外交家,中英关于香港问题谈判中方代表团团长与中葡关于澳门问题谈判中方代表团团长,有“诗人外交家”之誉。他1927年11月出生于吉林长春,1948年肄业于燕京大学文学院;历任中央外事学校教员,北京外语学院英文部班主任、法文部级主任,中国人民志愿军军政治部俘管团内勤组长,驻巴基斯坦大使馆三等秘书、二等秘书,外交部办公厅一科副科长、科长,西亚非洲司科长,驻坦桑尼亚大使馆二等秘书、一等秘书,中国常驻联合国代表团一等秘书、参赞,常驻联合国副代表(大使衔),外交部部长助理、副部长,外交学院院长(兼),新华社香港分社社长等职;系第七、第八届全国人大常务委员,中共第十四届中央委员。
