August 16-21, 2000 Leaders of large mountaineering associations in Kazakhstan, North Korea and Japan met at the foot of the Tianshan Mountains. The leaders of the National Climbing Pilots Foundation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kasbah Vyalyeyev, Yury Moeyseyev and Victor Popov, attended the meeting on behalf of Kazakhstan. Guests representing the Asian Mountaineering Federation made speeches at the conference. Mountaineering associations, clubs and federations in Japan, North Korea, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and some other countries are all members of the alliance.
