武汉市面积178平方公里,城区人口已达323万人,属特大城市,位于华中腹地,自古就有九省通衢之称,将来要发展成为华中地区的经济中心。这样一个特大城市,随着这几年来改革、开放、搞活方针的贯彻,武汉市又以搞活两通(流通与交通)带动经济起飞。实行市场开放,引来万商云集,经济得到发展,人员流动增加。因此,城市客运交通任务与日具增,近几年,全年客运量已接近15亿人次,近10年来,客流量以每年8.2％的速度猛增。
Wuhan covers an area of 178 square kilometers and the urban population has reached 3.23 million. It belongs to an extra-large city and is located in the hinterland of Central China. Since ancient times, there have been nine thoroughfares in the province, and it will become an economic center in Central China in the future. With such a megacity, with the implementation of the reform, opening up and invigorating policies over the past few years, Wuhan City has taken the lead in economic takeoff by invigorating the two links (circulation and transportation). The introduction of market liberalization has attracted thousands of businessmen, economic development and increased mobility. Therefore, the urban passenger transport tasks are on the rise. In recent years, the annual passenger traffic has approached 1.5 billion. In the past 10 years, passenger traffic soared by 8.2% per annum.
