由于檫树人工林的增加,为害它的害虫种类也逐渐增多。一九七九年,我们在进行檫树病虫害调查中,发现城郊新造檫树幼林中有几种害虫危害檫树生长,其中檫树根茎象(虫甲)是首次发现。据了解,我省九江县报道过杉树象虫为害檫树嫩芽和叶片;外省也有檫树象虫和檫树长足象的报道资料,为害部位都是棕树枝叶,而檫树根茎象(虫甲)为害蔸部树杆、树根,虫体形态特征也不相同。
