卞之琳(1910 -2000) ,江苏海门人 ,现代文学史上卓有成就的诗人、翻译家和学者。1929年从上海浦东中学考入北京大学英文系。毕业后以创作、翻译为生 ,参与创办、编辑《水星》杂志。抗日战争时期 ,任教于四川大学和西南联合大学。1947 -1948年间获英国文化协会“旅居研究奖”而留英。1949年初回国 ,应聘于北京大学西语系 ,不久入中国社会科学院外国文学研究所 ,主要从事莎士比亚悲剧的翻译和研究。卞之琳的诗作在汲取东西方诗歌传统的基础上 ,卓立而自成一家。作为中国现代诗的先行者之一 ,他的影响流布当时 ,下及四十年代“九叶”诗人 ,甚至一直延续至今 ,远播海外。
Bian Zhilin (1910 -2000), Haimen, Jiangsu Province, the most accomplished poet, translator and scholar in the history of modern literature. 1929 from Pudong Middle School admitted Peking University English Department. After graduation to create, translate a living, involved in the founder, editor of “Mercury” magazine. During the War of Resistance Against Japan, he taught at Sichuan University and Southwest United University. 1947-1948 by the British Council “living study Award” and stay in England. Returning home in early 1949, applied to Peking University Department of Western Languages, soon into the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Institute of Foreign Literature, mainly engaged in Shakespearean translation and research. Bian Zhilin’s poems draw on the tradition of eastern and western poetry, Zhuoli and self-contained. As one of the forerunners of modern Chinese poetry, his influence has spread throughout the world. The “Nine Leaves” poets of the 1940s and the 1940s have continued to this day and are now spreading overseas.
