Raymond Carver’s short stories are based on everyday life, using very simple strokes and cleverly intercepted fragments of daily life to achieve their own style of writing, to demonstrate the paradox in everyday life. In this paper, the text is analyzed by careful reading, and the paradox in the text is analyzed through two ideas of “explicit” and “hidden”. The former is a dominant narrative that embodies the paradox in things that can be intuitively perceived as characters and things, and the latter is a taciturn narration that reflects the paradoxical touch that can not be directly observed, such as emotion and atmosphere. On the one hand, the paradox in the novel makes the reader confused in reading, on the other hand, the paradox is the key way to solve these puzzles. This article starts with the understanding of the author buried in the works, Paradoxical narrative and implicit paradoxical narration to analyze in detail the paradoxical manifestations in Raymond Carver’s works.
