网络化建设是更好地搜集、传播、提供服务和资源共享的重要手段。目前,我国医学情报网络建设虽初具规模,但从整个医药卫生事业发展来看还亟待完善。美国夏威夷大学医学院图书馆馆长John A. Breinich教授应邀于1987年10月16～20日在湖南医学院讲学,有关“图书馆网络的结构和功能”部分对我国正在研讨和加强图书馆的网络建设具有一定参考价值。现将其译文发表,以资借鉴。
Network construction is an important means to better collect, disseminate, provide services and share resources. At present, although the construction of medical information network in our country has begun to take shape, it still needs to be improved urgently in view of the development of the entire medical and health undertaking. Professor John A. Breinich, curator of the University of Hawaii Medical College Library, was invited to give lectures at Hunan Medical College from October 16 to October 20, 1987.
