绥德县位于陕西省北部,榆林市东南部,地处陕北黄土高原丘陵沟壑区,东靠吴堡,西接子洲,南邻清涧,北连米脂,东北角与佳县接壤,东南隔黄河与山西省柳林县相望。贫瘠的土地,恶劣的自然条件,使这里的人们靠天吃饭,更相信自然的力量和对神明的敬畏,他们相信一种无形的护佑在守护着这片土地。生活的闭塞和枯焦并没有磨灭他们对生活理想的追求,利用当地分布众多的石材,大刀阔斧地打制出各种各样的石狮子作为他们的守护神成为当地一项延续已久的传统活动。
Suide County is located in the northern part of Shaanxi Province, southeast of Yulin City, is located in northern Shaanxi Loess Plateau hilly and ravine, east of Wubao, West access Chau, Nanlin Qingjian, north of Mizhi, northeast corner and Jiaxian border, Southeast across the Yellow River and Liulin County, Shanxi Province. Barren land, poor natural conditions, so that people here rely on the weather to eat, more confidence in the power of nature and reverence for the gods, they believe that an invisible blessing in guarding the land. The blockage and coking of life have not diminished their pursuit of the ideal of life. Using a large number of locally-distributed stone materials, the drastic mastery of stone lions as their patron saint has become a long-standing tradition in the region.
