2003年是苏州市外向型经济火红之年,三外比值节节上攀,不断呈稳健提增态势,全年经济指标有了更进一步的突破。全年全市外贸进出口总额656.6亿美元,同比增长80.4%,其中出口326.3亿美元,同比增长76.2%;进口330.3亿美元,同比增长84.8%;新增合同外资124.96亿美元,同比增长24.1%;实际利用外资68.05亿美元,同比增长41.4%;新签对外工程承包劳务合同额2.48亿美元,完成营业额2.25亿美元,分别增长35.2%和32.8%。2003年苏州外向型经济在江苏全省继续占半壁河山,外贸进出口总额占全省57.8%;合同外资、实际投入外资分别占全省比重的40.6%和43.0%;外经合同额、外经营业额分别占11.9%和11.4%。苏州市外向型经济综合实力唱响全国。2003年,苏州市克服SARS带来的负面影响,在困难中求突破,进出口创下了历史新高。其中加工贸易是全市出口的“王牌”主力,共出口262.02亿美元,占全市出口总额的80.3%;一般贸易出口64.31亿美元,占出口总量的19.7%。外商投资企业

In 2003, the export-oriented economy in Suzhou continued to account for half of the total province and the total import and export volume of the province accounted for 57.8% of the province. The contractual foreign investment and actual investment in foreign investment accounted for 40.6% and 43.0% of the province’s total respectively.
