商代、西周金器大多为装饰品,而最常见的金箔,多是用于其他器物上的饰件,或者说,是以和其他器物相结合的形式来增强器物的美感。殷墟出土的金箔十分轻薄,从厚度看,当时的锤揲工艺已相当高超,也说明商代工匠对金子的延展性有了相当深刻的认识,不然不可能加工到如此微薄的厚度。1977年,北京平谷县刘家河商墓出土的金耳坠(图1)通高3.4厘米,重6.8克,耳坠部呈扇形,往上由粗及细弯成半圆形,尾端收束成尖锥形;
Most of the Shang and Zhou Dynasties were decorated with ornaments. The most common type of gold leaf was mostly decorative pieces used for other objects. In other words, it was used in combination with other objects to enhance the beauty of the objects. The gold leaf unearthed in Yin Ruin was very light and thin. From the thickness, the hammering technology at that time was rather superb. It also showed that the artisans in Shang Dynasty had a profound understanding of the ductility of gold, otherwise it was impossible to process such a meager thickness. In 1977, the gold earrings excavated from the Liujiahe tomb in Pinggu County, Beijing (Figure 1) passed through a height of 3.4 cm and weighed 6.8 grams.
