通过考察文学作品,从杜甫始,始用“黄花”代菊花。到了宋代,杜诗的影响越来越大,用“黄花”代指菊花在宋代文人作品中很多,人们也开始欣赏菊花的高贵品质。随着宋代程朱理学的确立和广泛传播,社会上卫道者对女子们“贞节”的要求也越来越高,菊花就和闺中女儿联系在一起。
