Objective To investigate the relationship between plasma levels of angiotensin Ⅲ (Ang Ⅲ) and aminopeptidase N (APN) in essential hypertensive patients and essential hypertension. Methods A total of 2689 Han people in Huainan City of Anhui Province were surveyed and their blood pressure, height, weight and other indexes were measured. Hypertension (HPP) and nonhypertension (NHPP) were also screened. According to the principle of informed consent, patients with hypertensive familial hypertension (HPP-HP group, n = 131) and normal blood pressure (HPP-NHP group, n = 134) and non-hypertensive familial hypertension (NHPP-HP group , n = 127) and normotensive (NHPP-NHP group, n = 132). Plasma Ang Ⅲ, APN levels were measured by ELISA. Results Compared with NHPP-HP group, the level of AngⅢ in HPP-HP group was significantly higher than that in NHP-HP group [(75.7 ± 14.7) vs (61.3 ± 14.9) ng / L, P <0.01] and APN level was (32.3 ± 11.4) ) ng / L, P <0.01] lower. Plasma Ang Ⅲ level in HPP-HP group was negatively correlated with APN level (r = -0.331, P <0.05). The mean arterial pressure was positively correlated with plasma Ang Ⅲ level in HPP-HP group (r = 0.457, P <0.01) and NHPP-HP group (r = 0.324, P <0.01), but negatively correlated with plasma APN level in NHPP-HP group (r = -0.378, P <0.05). Conclusion Plasma levels of Ang Ⅲ and APN are different in different pedigrees. Plasma Ang Ⅲ levels in hypertensive patients were positively correlated with blood pressure, while plasma APN levels were negatively correlated with blood pressure.
