Soviet art which lasted more than 70 years is an important part of art history in the 20th century. Its accomplishments and lessons deserve our careful study. Some people in Western academia are always accustomed to using modern and postmodernism as a yardstick to measure the cultures of other nations and societies and to add to the opposition of the Soviet Union ideologies. Therefore, in appraising Soviet art, apart from affirming the modernism of the 1920s and encouraging later political pop, almost everything else is ignored or denied. Obviously we can not agree with this view. In the 1950s, when we were one-sided, we had a complete understanding of the leadership system, art theory and art education of the Soviet art community
