明德高级中学是一所历史悠久的百年老校,是一所环境优美、教学设施先进、师资力量雄厚、管理科学的现代化重点中学,其前身为世界著名实验物理学家吴健雄之父吴仲裔先生在1913年创办的明德女子职业学校。“明德”语出《大学》“大学之道,在明明德”。以明德为校名,旨在崇德、扬德,培养德才兼备人才。建校后,校名几经更迭,1998年5月更名为“太仓市明德高级中学”;2000年被确认为江苏省重点高中,2003年被评为江苏省三星级普通高中。目前,学校占地158亩,教学班46个,在校学生2043人,教职员工206人。
Mingde High School is a hundred years old school with a long history. It is a key modern high school with a beautiful environment, advanced teaching facilities, strong teaching staff and scientific management. Formerly known as the father of world famous experimental physicist Wu Jianxiong Matilda Girls’ Vocational School, founded in 1913. “Matilda ” language out of “University” “University of the road, in the Ming De ”. To Ming Tak as the school name, aimed at Zonta, Yangde, cultivate talents with both ability and political integrity. After the school was founded, the name of the school changed several times, and in May 1998 it was renamed as “Taicang Mingde Senior High School”. In 2000, it was recognized as a key high school in Jiangsu Province. In 2003, it was rated as a three-star high school in Jiangsu Province. At present, the school covers an area of 158 mu, teaching class 46, 2043 students, 206 faculty members.
