The Biggest Trading Partner Translocation The EU after the eastward expansion in May became China’s largest trading partner. Japan is still the largest source of imports for me. The United States is still the largest market for my exports. In May this year, the EU expanded from 15 to 25. After the eastward expansion, the EU took the place of Japan in becoming China’s largest trading partner. In 1998, the EU surpassed Hong Kong to become China’s third largest trading partner after Japan and the United States.
