During North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s Synergies 6 operation, U.S. aircraft carrier John F. Kennedy carried a new Grameen F-14 Tomcat fighter aircraft to perform North Atlantic air cover missions. An aircraft on the deck suffered a motor surge Damaged and dropped into the sea about 75 miles northwest of Scapa Flow. The pilot and radar operator were safely ejected and rescued. However, all three crew members were injured, and the water depth was 1,890 feet. Due to the machine (feather B) of the reason, the plane fell from the accident occurred at a distance underwater. The U.S. Navy spent many days probing the aircraft with a side-scan sonar. An underwater rescue boat found Tomcat lying on his back with almost no damage, yet the most expensive piece of equipment, Hughes’ AIM-54A Phoenix bird, was not seen in the belly of the plane.
