“有思想有能力的摄影家拿着观念作品到国外参展去了,有技术有关系的摄影家拿着商业作品在国内挣钱去了,有活力能吃苦的摄影师拿着报道作品在传媒中混饭去了;有眼光有耐心的收藏家拿着新旧器材到市场上交换相机去了,剩下的有钱的和没有钱的摄影发烧友(这是中国摄影最大的群体)拿着花花草草、山山水水和美女人体参赛去了……”著名摄影理论家林路在本文中例举了摄影界的一些现象和怪圈,他同时尖锐地指出:“摄影作为现代文化中极具冲击力的视觉样式,究竟还可以为这个社会留下些什么?”一个民族的文化是一个民族赖以生存的精神支柱,那么,什么是中国的摄影文化呢?之所以在本期的“人像摄影”专题刊出之际刊登这样一篇文章,原因有三:一是本次“人像摄影”专题的作品是在“第11届全国人像摄影展览”获奖作品基础上生发出来的,所有作者均为本届大赛的大奖获得者,而作品亦为获奖作品或其系列作品;二是每一次大规模的摄影比赛实际上都有着强烈的地域文化或民族传统文化背景作支撑,是在这一背景之上生成的一种精神或理念作为主线的;三是通过某一题材或某一类别摄影作品的大规模集中展示,亦可看出摄影人对文化的追求与碰撞。因而在此大谈“摄影文化”问题并非文不对题,亦非多此一举。
