Human T-Lymphovirus Type 1 (HTLV-1) is a newly discovered human C-type virus. It is closely related to the occurrence of many diseases such as malignant lymphoma. This article reviews the prevalence of HTLV-1 and details the three major routes of transmission of the virus, including mother-to-infant, sexual contact and blood transmission.
