2.4 Bearing Alloy The high-lead and high-tin bearing alloy, first patented by Isaac Babbitt in 1983, is commonly referred to as the Babbitt alloy. This alloy is particularly suited to meet the various requirements of oil film bearings. They maintain good wear resistance even under extreme conditions such as high loads, fatigue and high temperatures
