Low-Earth Orbit Permanent Manned Space Station has become the next major US space goal. NASA and industry have already begun to conduct an in-depth study of the space station and its major components. Space station attitude control and stability subsystem is an important part of the whole system. This article discusses the key decisions that must be made before choosing control technology and subsystems hardware. In addition, we will discuss some of the plans related to this in order to be quoted when the new control technology is mature. This is an important issue because in the absence of such a plan, gradual obsolescence of the system will be a major obstacle to the long-term operation of space stations.
