At the turn of the century, the Chinese are intoxicated with their economic achievements over the past 20 years and the whole world is talking about the rise of China. Suddenly, however, people noticed that China’s south-west neighbor, India’s economic growth, seems to have performed quite well. As a result, comparing China with India has become a hot topic of discussion in the global financial and strategic community. Covering the July / August 2006 issue of the U.S. Foreign Affairs magazine is “The Rise of India,” where four articles were organized. Three of them talk about the impact of India’s rise on the global strategy. The first “Indian model” discusses India’s basic path to economic growth over the past two decades.
