Japan Kawasaki Iron and Steel Company developed a new smelting method of iron alloy: the equipment used is a boiling pre-reduction reactor and a melting-reduction furnace. Chromium ores are preheated in the reactor using the off-gas of the smelt-reduction furnace and locally reduced with hydrocarbon gas. Fusing - reduction furnace filled with coke layer, placed in the lower part of the furnace two exhaust nozzle. Pre-reduced ore is blown through the upper exhaust nozzle; hot air and oxygen are blown through the lower exhaust air. The ore is melted in front of the tuyere and the molten ore is finally reduced as it passes through the coke layer. Low-strength coke can be used in a melt-reduction furnace. Such as using pulverized coal into the nozzle, can reduce coke consumption. Laboratory tests have shown that the use of hydrocarbon pre-reduction can be guaranteed at lower temperatures
