范成大,字致能。少年时,自号此山居士,晚年号石湖居士。平江(苏州)吴县人。范成大生于北宋钦宗靖康元年(1126)六月。就是这一年,金兵南侵。公元1127年,北宋灭亡。赵佶的另一个儿子赵构在南京(今河南商丘)即位,是为高宗,改元建炎。建炎三、四年间,金兵渡江,将最富庶的临安(杭州)、平江(苏州)焚掠一空。范成大的故乡也遭洗劫,大火数日不熄,留下焦土一片。诗人这年才四岁,全家人都在丧乱流离之中。
