当前我国正处于全面建成小康社会的重要时期,需要建立与之相适应的道德规范,进而维护良好的社会秩序和构建和谐社会。以“八荣八耻”为核心内容的社会主义荣辱观是中国共产党领导下的国家主流意识形态和社会道德评价标准,其蕴含和倡导的科学精神、敬业精神、爱国主义精神等既源于传统的中华民族精神,又是新的时代条件下对民族精神的继承、丰富和发展,构成了当代中华民族精神的核心内涵。以“八荣八耻”为核心内容的社会主义荣辱观在全社会、全民族范围内的广泛认同和自觉实践,为当代中华民族精神的塑造和弘扬奠定了良好的基础和条件。
