Like rising bubbles in champagne, the gas inside the Earth can rise to the surface of the Earth, causing a dangerous eruption of the magma. A new study shows that these “elongated bubbles” in the volcano originate deeper inside the Earth. The study is recorded in detail in a recent issue of Science.
