Turbocharged diesel engines with intercooler increase the gas density in the intake manifold. With air as the cooling medium, the lowest charge air temperature is achieved. This article describes a special air-cooled intercooler system that consists of an efficient intercooler and a cooling fan. Cooling Fan The gas released by the turbocharger’s compressor is driven by a ring of pulsating blades mounted on the periphery of the fan element. The advantages of air-cooled intercooling can be explained by comparing the performance of two identical engines, one with no intercooler and one with air-cooled intercooler. The actual data show that the use of air-cooled in the cold, the engine power increased 27%, exhaust gas pollution reduced by 40% or more, the maximum pressure in the cylinder slightly increased, fuel economy improved.
