甜玉米含糖量高,营养丰富,食味甜美,颇受人们喜爱,是正在发展中的一项果蔬兼用的新兴作物。甜玉米生产投资少、管理简易、生产周期短、经济效益高。如将生产的甜玉米制成罐头打入国际市场,可以赚取外汇,还可推动城郊乡镇企业的发展,是农民致富的一条新途径。 武汉地区气候温暖,有效生长期长,光照充足,具有发展甜玉米的优越条件。但1982年引进甜玉米至今已6年,甜玉米仍处在零星种植阶段,推而不广,尚未形成一定规模的生产,远远落后于上海,北京,沈阳,丹东等大、中城市。究其原因,有认识问题,有组织领导问题,也有技术问题。现就武汉地区发展甜玉米生产的几个关键问题,谈谈个人的看法。
