20世纪七十年代初,在香港学习芭蕾的黎海宁成为香港青年芭蕾舞团的创建元勋之一。她曾做过丽的电视与香港电视广播有限公司的舞蹈员,赴英国伦敦当代舞蹈学院学习三年后,1977年在香港大会堂举办了个人作品展,1979年成为城市当代舞蹈团的驻团编导,后成为该团的艺术总监,现被誉为香港城市当代舞团的“镇团编舞”。黎海宁的舞作散发着女性的细腻,在浓厚的人文气质之中,又不乏深刻的黑色幽默,以强烈的节奏性与独特的剧场风格著称。《不眠夜》、《九歌》、《春之祭》、《隐形城市》、《创世纪》、《女人心事:粉红色人生》、《畸人说梦》等作品,让两岸三地的观众领略到她的创造力与才华,也让业内人士都赞许林怀民先生给她的那句评价:编舞家心中的编导。
In the early 1970s, Le Haining, who studied ballet in Hong Kong, became one of the founding fathers of the Hong Kong Youth Ballet.
