Objective To study the cognitive dysfunction in patients with cerebrovascular disease (including cerebral infarction and cerebral hemorrhage). Methods Six tests including memory, thinking and speed of cognition were completed on a microcomputer, and the differences of cognitive function between 45 patients with cerebrovascular disease and 50 healthy controls were compared. Results Six of the six tests in patients with cerebrovascular disease showed significantly lower scores (four scores and three rates) than those in normal healthy subjects. All the results of cortical lesions were lower than those in subcortical lesions. Conclusions Patients with cerebrovascular disease showed obvious memory and thinking disorders, and the cognitive speed was significantly slowed down. The above cognitive impairment and speed of cortical lesions were more severe than those in subcortical lesions.
