The nickel-phosphorus alloy layer containing 9-12% phosphorus obtained by electrodeposition is an amorphous homogeneous structure with a very good corrosion resistance. Corrosion resistance at room temperature is better than that of Hastelloy; Corrosion resistance of non-oxidizing chlorides is comparable to that of titanium; Resistance to hot caustic soda at various temperatures and concentrations is superior to that of metallic nickel; Fluoride corrosion resistance and Monel comparable; a variety of organic acids and most of the corrosion resistance of the medium far beyond the commonly used austenitic stainless steel.
