从毛泽东、邓小平到江泽民，我们党的三代领袖都极为重视哲学社会科学，尤其是对马克思主义理论的发展，都前后一贯地给予了热情关怀和支持。从实际情况看，领袖的重视，中央的决策，还没有变成全社会的共识。应该看到，哲学社会科学发挥作用的方式虽然与自然科学、技术科学有不同的特点，但对社会的作用和贡献同样是巨大的。各级决策者担负着实现中华民族振兴的领导责任，增强社会科学意识，提高社会科学修养，这是决策者履行职责的迫切需要，也是落实党的十五大重大决策的迫切要求。
From Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping to Jiang Zemin, the leaders of the three generations of our party attach great importance to philosophy and social sciences, and in particular to the development of Marxist theory, have consistently given them warm-hearted care and support. From the actual situation, leaders’ attention and decision-making by the Central Government have not yet become the consensus of the entire society. It should be noted that the mode of functioning of philosophy and social sciences, though different from that of natural sciences and technological sciences, is also enormous for the role and contribution of society. Policymakers at all levels shoulder the leadership responsibility for rejuvenating the Chinese nation, enhancing social science awareness and improving social sciences. This is an urgent need for policymakers to fulfill their duties and also an urgent requirement for the implementation of the important decisions of the 15th CPC National Congress.
