Objective To explore the feasibility of establishing a laboratory for nuclear medicine in non-independent buildings. Methods To summarize the experiences and lessons learned in the design and construction of the engine room in the medical science building in our clinic. Results The new site of Nuclear Medicine Department of our hospital was put into use in 2014. In July, it was verified that the new site had ample room area and the radiation protection was up to standard. The patient was comfortable and coordinated with the main building. However, there is a small office area, no high-end waiting room and the patient out of the same mouth defects. Conclusion It is generally feasible to establish a nuclear medicine laboratory in a non-independent building, which can meet practical, safe, convenient, comfortable and economical requirements. In order to ensure the progress and quality, attention should be paid to the following five aspects in the design and construction: 1 Clear development goals and targeted design; 2 Multi-party visits to draw lessons from each; 3 Attach importance to expert advice to avoid rework and waste; 4 Closely Communication, smooth implementation of the construction; 5 continue to improve and perfect, to achieve maximum efficiency.
