编印出版一本内容翔实的音乐辞书,是一个国家在音乐理论建设和音乐理论水平达到一定高度的集中体现,也是我国音乐界半个多世纪以来一直未能实现的宿愿。建国后经过长期酝酿,于60年代初曾在音乐出版社内成立了一个工作小组,开始着手有关准备,后因“十年动乱”而被迫中断。“文革”结束后,由于党中央决定集中全国力量按学科分卷出版一套《中国大百科全书》。有了这样一个宏伟的规划和实力坚强的后盾,编印出版一本比较理想的音乐
