“牛克诚绘画展”于1997年11月14日至19日在北京国际艺苑美术馆举行。众多在京美术评论家、画家及来自全国各地的艺术院校学生参观了展览。11月17日,牛克诚在中国艺术研究院作了《近代以来日本画、中国画发展进程之比较》的报告。此外的几天里,他都在展厅与观众交谈,解答着各种问题。现将这些问题集中整理如下。客:你的画题为“园”,竟为何意?牛:“园”是一个具有多重意象的字。如,它会叫我们想起“家园”、“旧园”、“田园”、“园地”等……客:你的绘画风格独特。它是否受到了日本绘画的影响?牛:96年9月,我作为“日本国文部省文化厅特聘海外艺术家(画家)”,到日本进行了为期半年的学习、考察、创作活动。这期间,我重点学习了日本画技法,并参观了很多画展。我思考最多的还是中国画的发展问题。我从原来的画水墨画到现在的以色彩为主,这不能不说与我这段在日本的经历(包括在
The “Niu Kecheng Painting Exhibition” was held in Beijing International Art Gallery, Beijing from November 14 to November 19, 1997.
