There are few reports of cerebral infarction in live infants, and an autopsy of a critically ill neonatal ward shows that 17% of full-term infants have cerebral infarction. Pathophysiology emphasizes that cerebral infarction mainly comes from placental vessels, umbilical vessels, thromboembolism of arterial end-closure and neonatal sepsis with disseminated intravascular coagulation. Recent studies suggest that neonatal epilepsy and a variety of clinical incentives such as birth trauma, asphyxia, immature, meningitis, increased red blood cells and intravascular catheter and other factors. This article reports two cases of full-term newborns without obvious incentive to cerebral infarction with seizures, to emphasize the unknown reasons, it is called “idiopathic”, neonatal cerebral infarction.
