赫曼斯借助卢曼的社会系统理论,认为翻译作为一种智力和文化实践的社会现象,是一个独立的自足存在的社会系统,有自身的功能和结构。他提出并分析了翻译的自律和他律。笔者在与赫曼斯就翻译的自律和他律问题的讨论过程中,认为从语言学的角度,或从翻译的内部研究来看,翻译系统是自律的;从文化的角度,或从翻译的外部研究来看,翻译系统是他律的。
Based on Luhmann’s social system theory, Hermans regarded the translation as a social phenomenon of intellectual and cultural practice. It is an independent and self-contained social system with its own function and structure. He proposed and analyzed the self-discipline and the law of translation. In the discussion with Hermans on the issue of self-regulation and law of translation, the author thinks that the translation system is self-regulated from the perspective of linguistics or from the internal study of translation. From a cultural point of view or from a translation External research shows that the translation system is his law.
